Afghan Taliban asked to honour commitments in Oslo moot

ISLAMABAD: Key stakeholders including Pakistan at closed-door meeting held in Oslo, Norway have asked interim Afghan Taliban government to fulfil commitments made with international community.
Hosted by Norway, three-day meeting held brought together envoys from UN, Pakistan, Qatar, US, UK, India and others to discuss Afghan situation. Ambassador Asif Ali Durrani, special representative on Afghanistan, represented Pakistan at meeting. Second-tier Afghan Taliban delegation was also in attendance despite protest by civil society activists and opposition parties.
Sources familiar with meeting told that purpose of conference was to discuss current situation in Afghanistan and press Taliban administration to live up to their promises. Sources said participants of meeting were unanimous in urging Afghan Taliban to form an inclusive government, eradicate terrorist sanctuaries and lift ban on girls’ education.
