Administrator Karachi thanks China for donating Rs21.7m for Karachi rehabilitation

KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman thanked Mayor of Shanghai and government of China for donating Rs 21.7 million for rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged during rains and floods.

Consul General of China Li Bijian called on Administrator Karachi Dr Syed Saifur Rehman who said that money given as donation by Shanghai Municipal Government will be spent on development and infrastructure maintenance of Karachi.

Li Bijian formerly handed over cheque given by Shanghai Municipal Government to Administrator Karachi. He said that it is gift from citizens of Shanghai for restoration of infrastructure of Karachi affected after rains. Li Bijian invited Administrator Karachi to visit China.

Dr. Saifur Rehman said that Karachi and Shanghai are twin cities, friendship between China and Pakistan is undying. "Mayor of Shanghai Gong Zheng had visited KMC which is source of great joy and pride for us.

Administrator handed over letter of thanks for Mayor Shanghai Gong Zheng in which he maintained that as Administrator Karachi, it is his responsibility to ensure that donated money is spent on maintenance and development of Karachi's infrastructure.

"Karachi and its citizens extend their heartfelt greetings to government of China and people of Shanghai for this donation".

Meanwhile, Consul General of China along with Administrator Karachi visited newly renovated Council Hall at KMC Head Office. Dr. Saifur Rehman briefed him about historical background and other details of City Council Hall.
