Administrator Dr Saif disallows parking fee in city’s non-auction sites

KARACHI: Karachi Administrator Dr Syed Saifur Rahman assumed charge of his office. Meeting with officials at KMC old building he said that KMC will not collect parking fee for sites until they are auctioned.
He said parking will be free at sites which have not been auctioned. KMC officers and staff are not supposed for parking themselves. Dr Saif said parking sites being run at Karachi Zoo, Safari Park and KMC parks by its employees should be closed immediately until auction.
He directed senior director Estate to increase rent of KMC shops within week as public opinion has already been taken in this regard so there should be no delay.
In first phase, authorities concerned should take steps towards repair and maintenance of all major KMC roads, adding streetlights will also be fixed on these roads.
During meeting, he directed DG Parks to make arrangements shifting plants from KMC nurseries to green belts. He directed anti-encroachment department to continue action against encroachments and clear footpaths and public places. “Departments should meet their revenue targets in any case and submit detailed report by next week,” administrator added.
Dr Saif directed officers to make all KMC affairs in transparent manner, adding all officers must work for city with good intentions, hard work, dedication and passion.
He passed directives to computerise KMC land record of Land Department and Directorate Orangi Township for eradication errors. Applications received for running private slaughter house would also be considered as per law. He asked director veterinary to conduct an immediate auction of ‘bhoosa mandi’ in Landhi. He said world has changed and government as well as private institutions should develop ability to run institutions under public-private partnership.
He directed senior director culture an d sports to immediately activate Landhi Sports Complex so that sports facilities are available for youth. He asked KMC officers to keep far-sightedness in their planning and making decisions about city.
Officers should ensure timely completion of development projects and making practical steps towards their implementation. He expressed full confidence in KMC officers, adding they will give better results with their efforts and experience. “My doors are open to all officers and citizens who are willing to do well for city,” he added.
