ADB to provide $2.3-2.5b aid in shape of flood relief support

ISLAMABAD: Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced to provide flood relief support to Pakistan to tune of 2.3 to 2.5 billion dollars including 1.5 billion dollars for BRACE programme.

This was assured by Country Director of Asian Development Bank Yong Ye who called on Minister for Finance and Revenue Mohammad Ishaq Dar here.

He said programme will be placed before Asian Development Bank's Board for approval during this month. Country Director Asian Development Bank extended felicitations to Finance Minister on assuming charge of office and expressed sympathy on loss of lives and properties in devastating floods in Pakistan.

Ishaq Dar welcomed him and appreciated Asian Development Bank's role and support in promoting sustainable development in Pakistan.

He apprised delegation of devastation caused by recent floods in country and its impact on economy of Pakistan.

He informed about ongoing and future projects of Asian Development Bank in different sectors including social protection, food security and energy sectors. Regarding Country Partnership Strategy for Pakistan 2021-25, it was shared that this strategy is in line with vision of government of Pakistan.
