‘ACPK annual general body meeting held’

Karachi: Muhammad Ahmed Shah, interim Minister for Information, Minority Affairs, Social Welfare and President of Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi said that this year, Arts Council organised conferences not only within city but also extended its reach to United States.
Addressing General Body meeting at Arts Council he mentioned that this year, literature festivals were organised in other cities of Pakistan as well, aiming to bring together all languages and communities of country.
According to him, these initiatives were relatively successful. Shah noted that all Arts Councils of Sindh came together for first time and with collaboration of members from all over Sindh, he was selected as President of Arts Council of Pakistan. He emphasised they are serving artists nationwide and credit for social revolution goes to members of Arts Council Karachi, who trusted him.
Commissioner Karachi and Chairman Arts Council, Saleem Rajput, praised President Ahmed Shah’s efforts, saying that people of Pakistan appreciate his endeavours. Saleem Rajput said that he himself is member and came from Gilgit to cast his vote.
He suggested organising programme in Gilgit and Skardu through Arts Council. He mentioned that Sindh government is working on various aspects for convenience of city dwellers, including transportation, price control and other areas. During Annual General body meeting, activities of past year, audit reports and performance report on video screen were approved.
Following General Body meeting, number of members participated in dinner. Prayers and Fatiha were offered for members who passed away during year.
Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi in collaboration with Culture Department Sindh celebrated Quaid-e-Azam Day & Christmas celebrations with a mega concert, cake cutting ceremony and fireworks. Chief Minister Sindh Justice Maqbool Baqar, Minister for Culture Junaid Shah, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab and the citizens of Karachi in large numbers attended the event.
