ACE team returns empty-handed

RAWALPINDI: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab team went to arrest Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah returned empty-handed from Secretariat Police Station as they weren’t allowed to comply with court’s orders.
ACE Punjab Director Syed Anwar Ali Shah, speaking to media alleged that police officers misbehaved with them and pushed them out of police station. He said that ACE team will now inform court about it and plan its next strategy according to it. Shah claimed that police station staff did not record their arrival or departure nor did they comply with court’s orders. Court turns down ACE’s contempt plea against Anti-Corruption Establishment’s plea seeking contempt of court action against Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, for not appearing in an inquiry.
On Saturday, a special judicial magistrate issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Sanaullah, which was considered a tit-for-tat move by Punjab government after two PTI leaders were taken into custody by Federal Investigation Agency. A spokesperson of ACE Punjab said that it issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for PML-N leader after he failed to appear in an inquiry. During hearing, ACE court directed team of anti-graft watchdog to continue efforts for minister’s arrest and present him before court.
Musaddiq Abbasi, advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on anti-corruption said that Rana Sanaullah has been found guilty in corruption case against him.
