KARACHI: The eleventh death anniversary of the well-known sports personality, philanthropist, social worker and Pakistan’s one of the topmost orthopedic surgeon Dr.Mohammad Ali Shah observed yesterday at his residence in North Nazimabad in Karachi.
Family members and friends remembered the persona and the contributions of late Dr Mohammad Ali Shah for his invaluable services to the society in the diversified fields including sports, healthcare, education, social welfare and others.
Begum Asma Ali Shah while recalling Dr Shah’s personality said that he was an ebullient man, soft-spoken and always paid immense attention towards helping the humanity and serving the society in the most utmost manner.
It can be said without any doubt that both Dr Junaid Ali Shah who is also the current interim Sindh Sports Minister and Dr Imran Ali Shah are introspectively taking father’s legacy ahead in letter and spirit with regard to serving the masses without discrimination, promoting sports across national and international levels and the human welfare work across the board.
Dr Shah served as an adviser on sports to the Chief Minister of Sindh. One of his remarkable achievement was to bring the World XI team in Karachi in 2012 at a time when even the Pakistan Cricket Board was reluctant to do so.
Yes, after the successful event of World XI, Dr Shah in one of his interview told the journalist that “One day I made a resolve to bring international cricketers to Pakistan and never let the feeling of failure come into my mind after that and added that “I firmly believe that with hard work, devotion and perseverance, you can achieve anything and Almighty Allah helped me succeed in my endeavours.”
On his supreme contribution to sports and healthcare, Pakistan government also awarded Dr Shah with some prestigious honours including Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance and others.
The prominent surgeon and orthopaedic expert of Pakistan passed away during his cancer treatment in Houston, United States on February 4, 2013.
