ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said judiciary should review its past decisions, urging it “Rectify injustices” done to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, whose return to Pakistan is expected soon. Responding to reporter’s question during joint press conference Abbasi said, “Injustices done to Nawaz Sharif we talk about Nawaz Sharif returning to country but we should also rectify those injustices and those injustices are very evident.”

He has been holding series of non-partisan talks along with other renowned political ‘mavericks’ (such as former finance minister Miftah Ismail and former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar) on current economic and political issues in country.

“I do not want to talk about those issues whatever effect judiciary’s decisions and actions have had in running this country, they have played major role in matters that plague country today.” At another point during talk, he said that speakers had not criticised anyone but themselves, adding, “We all are responsible (for current situation), including politicians, military officials, judges and media.”

“There is need to end it (military’s interference) and bring it within Constitutional boundaries. This in particular will give you solution to issues.”

“I welcome this decision of government, though they incurred loss of four months and of money. However, it is good thing better late than never. “I hope that they will move towards finding solution to country’s financial issues,” he added.

“Today through this forum, we demand that people who state imprisoned during Gwadar protests, all of their cases are taken back, they are released and state fulfils all of their demands.”
