$9.7bn pledges trust sign for country: PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Geneva Conference remained highly successful and achievements made by us in conference is result of prayers of nation and team work.
“Had there been fear of corruption, then announcement of 9.7 billion dollars would not have been made in conference, he said. Addressing press conference flanked by federal ministers here he stated that reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-affected areas will be made successful model by ensuring complete transparency in utilisation of funds, pledged at Climate Resilient Pakistan Conference in Geneva.
On atta crisis, he said, “You should get reply of atta crisis from provinces. Provinces should be compassionate with people and they should not shift scourge on them. Atta price is provincial matter. Wheat reserves are there in accordance with requirement of nation.” Food minister has taken nation into confidence in this regard.
He underlined we will continue our efforts unless flood affectees return to their homes. He stated pledges of 9.70 billion dollars were announced in conference. He observed we will not disappoint nation and each penny will be utilised in transparent manner for rehabilitation of flood affected people and reconstruction of damaged homes and other infrastructure including roads and bridges.
He held that there should be left no doubt that world nations reposed trust on allied government. Political rivals tried to divide nation. They poured poison. This is biggest achievement, he added.
Shehbaz Sharif said process of third party validation will be pursued for this purpose which will send strong message to donors and lenders.
He said whole world saw itself expression of solidarity, brotherhood and unity on part of Pakistan at Geneva moot.
He said provinces were taken along which presented their case at conference.
