5th convocation of Federal Urdu University held at Governor House

KARACHI:  5th convocation of the Federal Urdu University was held at the Governor House, in which as many as 97 gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze medals and certificates were awarded to 231 students from 37 different departments.

The chief guest of the special day, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, said in his address to the convocation that he congratulates all the graduating students. Today is a day of pride and joy that we are welcoming the achievements of all the students.  This ceremony is an important milestone in the history of Urdu University. The successful students have completed an important stage of their lives today. This success is the result of dedication, quest and perseverance in acquiring knowledge, he said He expressed confidence that all the students will make the university shine.  Governor said that he is aware that the Federal Urdu University is currently facing various problems. “I am sure that Vice Chancellor of FUUAST Prof. Zabta Khan Shinwari and his team will soon overcome this crisis,” he said. He said that students should consider their success as a step towards fulfilling their dreams and parents of students should not be disappointed about the future of their children. Parents of students will come to the Governor House to shape the future of their children, he suggested. 

The Governor Sindh was of the view that highly educated women are our future while parents should make their daughters useful citizens of the society.  Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said, “I congratulate the graduating students. The students who won gold medals and their parents deserve congratulations.”  Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said in his address that Sir Syed Ahmed Khan built a college. This college developed and became Aligarh University. Aligarh University was a necessity to create Pakistan. Dr. Khalid said that Pakistan was built under an ideology, an intention, a goal, and a promise. VC FUUAST Professor Dr. Zabita Khan Shinwari said in his address that it is a pleasure to hold the Federal Urdu University Convocation after a long time and that Federal Minister for Education and Pro-Chancellor of Federal Urdu University Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Member National Assembly Syed Aminul Haq took personal interest in the convocation, due to which the event was made possible, for which FUUAST is grateful to them.  VC Professor Shinwari further said that now a regular convocation will be held every year for the students of Urdu University and the varsity will be counted among the leading universities not only in Karachi but also in Pakistan.

On this occasion, Deputy Chairman Senate Urdu University Dr. Jamil Ahmed Khan also spoke. On this occasion, leader MQM and Member National Assembly Pakistan, former IT Minister Syed Aminul Haq, MNA Ahmed Salim Siddiqui, former Federal Minister Haji Hanif Tayyab, Vice Chancellor of Karachi University Dr. Khalid Iraqi, former Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Qaiser, Registrar Sadia Khalil and members of the Senate, teachers, students and their parents were also present. Medals and certificates were also presented to the students at the convocation.
