56 bodies found on Nishtar Hospital rooftop buried

MULTAN: A welfare organisation with help of police buried 56 bodies found on rooftop of Nishtar Hospital in Multan, according to a report yesterday. According to report, bodies were buried in a graveyard adjacent to hospital.
On October 13, Punjab Chief Minister’s Adviser Chaudhry Zaman Gujjar spotted unclaimed bodies left abandoned on roof of Nishtar Hospital. Videos showed horrors of Nishtar Hospital’s dead house packed with rotten bodies. In videos and pictures, some bodies and old wooden cot were thrown on floor. Following discovery of unclaimed bodies, an inquiry committee was formed by Punjab government to hold responsibly accountable.
Later, in light of inquiry report Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi ordered suspension of three doctors of Nishtar Hospital and two station house officers over their alleged negligence in matter. Statement further stated that CM Punjab ordered action under Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act 2006 against those responsible for “negligence”.
