MULTAN: The 52nd National Athletics Championship wrapped up at Ayub Stadium in Multan, drawing around 600 athletes from across Pakistan for a vibrant display of skill, competition, and national pride.

Organized by the Pakistan Armed Forces in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of Pakistan, the championship brought together top athletes from a wide array of sectors including the military, police, educational institutions, and various sports organizations. Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem had the honor of inaugurating the championship.

Leading the opening parade, Nadeem symbolized Pakistan’s aspirations in athletics, inspiring the participants and attendees. The championship featured a diverse field, with athletes competing in a range of track and field events that demonstrated the depth and competitive spirit of the country’s athletic talent. The Army Athletic Team emerged as the dominant force, clinching an outstanding medal haul across both men’s and women’s categories. In the men’s division, the Army team secured 17 gold, 12 silver, and 10 bronze medals, while the women’s team followed suit with 8 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Competitors came from a wide spectrum of institutions such as the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, WAPDA, and the Higher Education Commission, making the event a truly national affair. The championship not only showcased individual athletic achievements but also underscored the importance of sports in fostering national unity and development.

This multi-day event was crucial for talent identification and skill development, offering athletes a significant platform to compete at the highest national level. The 52nd National Athletics Championship emphasized the growing importance of athletics in Pakistan’s sporting culture, further motivating athletes to excel in their respective disciplines.
