50 foreign countries’ leaders join flag hoisting of ‘Aman’ exercise in Karachi

KARACHI: In another historic move and innovative peace tradition, flag hoisting ceremony of Multinational Naval Exercise Aman was held here, in which Naval representatives of 50 foreign countries along with Pakistan participated amid peaceful and coherent atmosphere.

 Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami briefed participants including media about Multinational Naval Exercise Aman. Bilgrami stated that Multinational Naval Exercise ‘Aman’ has been conducting peace exercises since 2007.

He said that joint maritime security was critical to countering multilateral maritime threats. Information sharing in multinational maritime exercise Aman will promote protection of common maritime interests, he said. Commander Pakistan Fleet expressed his condolences over destruction and casualties caused by earthquake in Turkiye and Syria.

He said that this year, we are proud to host participants from 50 countries, each of whom has come here with common objective of contributing towards ensuring peaceful and secure maritime environment.

 He said that as we get-together for Aman 2023, we are reminded of significance of cooperation and collaboration in maritime domain. Exercise motto ‘Together for Peace’ underscores importance of working together in ensuring safety and security of our seas.

He said that secure maritime environment is crucial for free flow of trade and commerce and it is imperative that we work together to safeguard this vital global common for progress and prosperity.

Bilgrami said that Aman series of exercise provides not only an opportunity to navies around world to come together and participate in number of operational activities, it also provides platform for building relationships and fostering greater understanding among our nations.

 He said that this exchange of ideas, experiences and best practices is key aspect of exercise and he was confident that they all will benefit from that interaction. “As commander Pakistan Feet, I expect Aman exercise will be mutually rewarding and professionally beneficial for all participants,” Bilgrami concluded.
