GAZA: Forty people were killed and 73 were wounded in an Israeli attack on Nuseirat School in Gaza Strip, director of Gaza government media office Ismail Al-Thawabta and Gaza Health Ministry official has told Reuters. Two officials added that 14 children and 9 women were killed in strike.
Earlier, UNRWA communications director Juliette Touma told Reuters that number of those reported killed in Israeli offensive on Nuseirat School was between 35 and 45, adding number could not be confirmed at this stage.
Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hadja Lahbib has called for ceasefire in Gaza Strip, after an Isralei army strike on UNRWA school in Nuseirat, central Gaza, killed at least 40 people in early hours of this morning. “Devastating airstrike on UNRWA school in #Gaza is an appalling and unacceptable act of violence,” she wrote on X. “All parties must respect civilian infrastructure. This tragedy reminds us of urgency to end violence.”
EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell called for probe into an Israeli strike on UN-run school in Gaza. “Reports coming from Gaza time and again show that violence and suffering are still only reality for hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians.
This appalling news must be independently investigated,” Borrell wrote on X. UN Palestinian refugee agency’s Chief said that Israel had carried out strike on one of its Gaza schools “Without prior warning” to thousands of displaced sheltering there.
“Another UNRWA school turned shelter attacked,” Philippe Lazzarini said in statement on X, adding that agency had earlier provided Israeli forces with building’s coordinates.
