30 SSU commandos passed out from 8-week counter terrorism course

KARACHI: A passing-out ceremony was held at Naval Special Operations Training Centre (NSOTC), Bin Qasim, Gharo where 30 commandos of Special Security Unit (SSU) passed out from 08-week Counter Terrorism Course trained by the officials of Special Services Group (Navy). It was overall 11th batch of SSU commandos that passed out from the centre. Earlier, 306 SSU commandos had already received tactical training from NSOTC.

Training modules included unarmed combat for self-defense, close-quarter combat, repelling, basic explosive, tactics and gadgets used in night operations and use of modern small weapons.

DIG Security & Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed was the chief guest of the passing out ceremony who while addressing the ceremony said that the tactical training provided to the SSU Commandos will enhance the operational and professional capabilities of the commandos.

Dr.Maqsood appreciated the contribution and support by Commandant NSOTC Noman Aslam and other training officers for providing modern tactical training to the commandos of SSU and hoped for the continuation of such trainings in future.

Commodore SSG (Navy) Jawad Khuwaja addressing to the personnel said that the advance training delivered to SSU Commandos would bring a positive change in their capabilities to deal with untoward situations. Therefore, it is an important day for the SSU Commandos who would serve the nation with enhanced tactics learnt during the course.  The commodore said that Special Security Unit is a standardized police unit in the country, the quick response and gallantry performance of SSU Commandos made the KPO operation successful which is prime evidence of professionalism of the SSU Commandos. 

Commandant NSOTC Muhammad Noman Aslam addressing the officers said that the course is designed as per the latest needs, the commandos have now become capable to counter terrorism activities and to cope any hostile situation if created by the terrorists.

Later, Commodore SSG (Navy) and Commandant NSOTC presented souvenirs to the DIG Security Dr. Maqsood Ahmed.
