‘25th Men’s National Baseball Championship starts’

Rawalpindi: The 25th Men’s National Baseball Championship, organized by the Pakistan Federation Baseball, officially kicked off today at the GHQ Rawalpindi Baseball Ground. The opening ceremony was graced as  Chief Guest by Deputy Director Lt. Col. Nabil Rana of the Army Sports Directorate. He was warmly welcomed by Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, the General Secretary of the Pakistan Federation Baseball, amidst enthusiastic applause from the assembled players.

In the inaugural matches, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa triumphed over Sindh with a 15-run lead. Key players Owais, Atif, Abdullah, Yahya, Hameed Tariq, and Qasim each contributed two runs, while Musa, Moazullah, and Abdul Rehman added one run a piece. The second match WAPDA securing a victory against Islamabad with a score of 10-4. Muhammad Wasim Ali led the charge for WAPDA with 3 runs, followed by Abidullah and Zakir with two runs each, and Sadam Hussain, Imran Nazim, and Nouman Zulfiqar each adding one run. Islamabad’s efforts were highlighted by Jibran, Tariq, Shafiq, and Wahid, who each scored one run.

The third match featured a face-off between the Army and Police teams Army won by 22 runs. Shahzad Ahmed, Faqir Hussain, Wasim Akram, Asad Ali, Nazir Ahmed scored 3-3, Muhammad Abdullah, Changez, Muhammad Hussain scored 2-2 while Muhammad Younis scored one run.

The matches were supervised by Zubair Vito, Zafar Hussain Waraich, Zubair Malik, Tariq Pasha, Sarfaraz Ahmed under the supervision of Chairman Umpiring Muhammad Jameel Kamran. Army Baseball Incharge Major Ali Tahir, PFB treasurer Tahir Mehmood Papa, Media Director Parvez Ahmed Sheikh, Amjad Khan, Aamir Bhatti, Gul Jan Afridi and others were present on this occasion.

During the ceremony, General Secretary Syed Fakhar Ali Shah presented a bouquet and an honorary shield to the Chief Guest, Lt. Col. Nabil Rana. General Secretary Syed Fakhr Ali Shah extended his heartfelt thanks to the Army Sports Directorate for their unwavering support.
