106 roads streetlights to shift on solar energy: Murtaza Wahab

KARACHI: Mayor Murtaza Wahab announced plan to install solar-powered streetlights on 106 roads of Karachi. He earlier stated due to ever-increasing tariff of electricity, KMC would install streetlights that would be powered by solar panels.

He said that solarisation plan has not yet been successful in Karachi because of warm temperature and dusty weather. He said that plan being evaluated to energise streetlights with solar panels and make sure they do not get covered with dust. Wahab said that in coming 10 days 32 roads in SITE area will be inaugurated. He said that Shahrah-e-Noorjahan was built by Peoples’ Party, but another political party hoisted its flags on road. He said new road will also be inaugurated in Lyari soon. He promised an early completion of development projects in Malir. Murtaza Wahab said that Peoples’ Party has first time got reins of Karachi and people will witness work in every town of city.

Meanwhile, he said that 32 roads would be inaugurated in next ten days and journey of development will continue. Addressing opening ceremony of Iqbal Park in Block 14 Gulberg Town here.

Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, Peoples’ Party Central District President Masroor Ahsan, General Secretary Dil Muhammad, Saif Yar Khan, Shahzad Majeed and elected representatives and workers were present. He said that we laid foundation stone of this park at end of June this year and inaugurated it today.

Bakhtiari Youth Centre is being constructed fast in North Nazimabad and underpass is being constructed at Meena Bazar Karimabad, we go out every day and work in one place or another. He said that garbage collection issue has been solved and situation has improved.
