10 meetings to be held from Feb 6-17: ‘NA Special Committee holds marathon meetings on sacked employees’

KARACHI: Special Committee on Affected Employees constituted by National Assembly has called Secretary of Civil Aviation Authority to appear on February 7 before Committee with directives to attend meeting along with CEO (PIA), CHRO PIA and DG FIA on date along with detailed brief with reference to implementation status of previous recommendations relating to PIA and CAA.

Special Committee announced its marathon agenda of ten meetings to be held from February 6-17 in Old PIPS Hall, Parliament Lodges. 13-members special committee is chaired by Qadir Khan Mandokhail.

In meetings Committee will examine cases of employees who were sacked as result of declaration of Sacked Employees (Reinstatement) Act, 2010 void and give its recommendation to House in light of decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan, December 17, 2021.

It will review cases of all affected employees of any government, semi government departments, attached departments or autonomous bodies on contract basis, daily wages, project employees or any other employees whose services have been terminated for any other reasons. Furthermore absorption cases of teachers of all grades. Committee shall in addition to powers already available with Standing Committees also have powers to issue directions/show cause notices to any of departments in case of necessity. 

Earlier, on February 6 Secretary, Ministry of Maritime Affairs will attend meeting along with implementation status of previous recommendations relating to KPT and all other departments. Secretary Ministry of Finance will brief in detail with reference to ZTBL, NBP and SME Bank February 8, 2023.
