‘Two aircrafts with relief goods from Turkiye to arrive in Karachi today’

Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb yesterday said that two aircrafts from Turkiye carrying relief goods for flood affectees would arrive in Karachi today. In a series of tweets, Marriyum mentions that “the Consul General of Turkiye in Karachi will hand over the relief goods to the Pakistani authorities at the airport on Monday morning.”

“The relief goods included tents, medicines and other items,” the minister said. “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif informed Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan about the devastation caused by floods in the country during a telephonic conversation on Saturday,” she added. She furthered that more relief goods are also expected from Turkiye. Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye had said in a statement that, “We are deeply saddened that the severe flood disasters, which are ongoing and intensified in the last few days in Pakistan, claiming lives of many Pakistani brothers and sisters, and caused extensive damage.”

“We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, convey our condolences to the friendly an\d brotherly government and people of Pakistan and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.” The statement maintained that Turkiye has started preparations to extend the necessary relief to the “Pakistani brothers and sisters who have been affected by the flood disasters and has planned to send a Turkish aircraft carrying humanitarian aid to Pakistan.”
