Karachi: Allottees of Surjani Town sectors 10/4, 10/5 and 10/7 of Scheme 41 staged protest in front of Karachi Development Authority office, Civic Centre.
They claimed land grabbers are selling their allotted plots in garb of ‘gothabad scheme’ with name of ‘Bilawal Goth’. After some development work including road network for approaching areas, we decided to construct houses, they said. Scheme-41 of Surjani Town is under land authority of KDA. KDA allotted plots in sectors 10/4, 10/5 and 10/7 through auction in 1980. Protestors said it is responsibility of Authority to get our plots evacuated from land mafia. “We have complete documents of plots verified by KDA, but possessions of plots are not in our hands,” allottees claimed. KDA Director General Asif Memon refused to meet us on this issue, they alleged.
KDA DG Secretariat staff said, ‘DG is busy in meeting and cannot meet you, they said. Moreover we also moved to meet with KDA Director Land Management Waryal Indher for registering their complaints and after meeting he assured us that department will take up matter with relevant department, they informed. KDA director land said estate and enforcement department will remove illegal structures by initiating anti-encroachment drive over their allotted plots, as soon as KDA officer will take charge of director estate and enforcement, they said. An officer of grade 19 Khalid Zafar Hashmi was appointed as KDA director estate and enforcement, but he was relieved from post by Sindh Local Government Department last week. KDA Director Land confirmed that allottees were allotted plots by KDA in Surjani’s different sectors in 1980, they added.
