IGP Sindh appoints IO to investigate deaths of 19 after consuming toxic liquor

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar appointed Additional IGP- Internal Accountability Branch Farhatullah Junejo as an inquiry officer to investigate deaths of 19 people after consuming poisonous liquor in Tando Allahyar and Tando Jam.

According to Sindh Police spokesman, IGP  also suspended Deputy Superintendents of Police and Station House Officers of A-Section Police Station Tando Jam and A-Section Police Station Tando Allahyar. He directed that in light of transparent and impartial investigation, criminal negligence of police personnel and those supervising these liquor stores should be held accountable. He directed that comprehensive inquiry report of incident should be sent to office within seven days for review and further necessary action.
